Small Quantities of Intensities - The Untold Story of William E. and Clara Brigham
About
The Providence-based artist couple William E. and Clara R. Brigham are among the most influential 20th-century artists you may have never heard of. In 1916, they built their studios, the 'little museum', and community gardens at 460 Rochambeau promoting interdisciplinary craftsmanship and sustainable design for generations of makers.
Holly Gaboriault, Critic in RISD’s Illustration Department, will illuminate their story that brings to light innumerable connections in an archival constellation including the origins of RISD's Design department, RISD's history of theatrical production and costume design, and contributions to Rhode Island's weaving and textile communities.
