About
Commonly made in North American indigenous communities, cradleboards were crafted for carrying, swaddling, and transporting young children. Join Claudia J. Ford, RISD professor of liberal arts, and Alexandra Peck, doctoral student at Brown University, as they look closely at the Iroquois Cradleboard and Cheyenne Papoose Carrier and discuss the importance of indigenous knowledge and making, as well as the display and interpretation of Native cultural material within the museum context.
Double Takes feature two specialists offering their views on single objects with a focus on artistic process, social context, and the ever-evolving meanings of art.
