Demo & Discourse
About
Part of Locally Made's One Room.
In Demo & Discourse, artists, designers, and experts from across disciplines and mediums share examples of their work and talk about process.
We will give a short presentation on our personal art practices, within the context of being artist/parents as well as collaborators, and we will screen a video piece (10 min.) that is made for this event. Also, open it up to discussion afterwards, and we may have a fun take away. — Scott Alario and Marguerite Keyes
Free with museum admission.
Born 1983, Alario earned an MFA in Photography from The Rhode Island School of Design and a BFA from the Massachusetts College of Art. His work has been shown in institutions around New England, Bloomington, Indiana and in Reykjavik, Iceland. He was selected for inclusion in "Exposure: 7 Emerging Photographers", published in the November/December 2011 issue of Art New England. He's also the recipient of several awards including a fellowship from the Rhode Island State Council of the Arts in 2011. He lives and works in Providence, Rhode Island.
Calling herself an artist has helped Marguerite get away with many things. She also uses this title as an excuse to ask important questions and for creating her own solutions. Marguerite likes to tell stories with her artwork. She builds narrative through sculptural installations that range in scale from larger than life to tiny worlds that are best viewed with a magnifying glass. She uses found materials and relics pulled from the cracks of old floors. She has held solo and group exhibitions in Reykjavík, Iceland and across New England. Marguerite received her BFA from Massachusetts College of Art, and currently lives in Providence with her partner and their daughter.
