Micah Salkind curates The Re-sounding City from 7/23-7/28. In "The Re-sounding City" six Providence DJs spin one-hour sets that speak to their experiences of life in The Creative Capital. Curators and DJs Micah Jackson will be on-site to talk and dance about the Assembly with audiences, asking them to contribute drawings and text indexing their impressions in archival leger, a document that will compliment audio recordings of the one-hour performances. — Micah Salkind
7/26: Mike DelickExplorations in South African House Music: This DJ set will explore the sounds of South African House music which has become a staple for "Soul Teknology" at the Salon. From the sweet soulful sounds of producers like Black Coffee and Osunlade to the deep tribal sounds of Culoe de Song and Echo Deep no stone will be left unturned. — Mike Delick

Micah Salkind is a Providence, Rhode Island-based curator, DJ and Ph.D. candidate in American Studies at Brown University interested in the impacts of Afro diasporic cultural production on local, national and transnational economies. His scholarly research on Chicago house music complements his activism on behalf of local artists and arts institutions.
DJ Mike Delick originally from Mattapan, Massachusets, now resides in Providence, Rhode Island where he's been playing and producing music since 1995. Delick started Djaying house parties in high school when he purchased his first set of straight arm Technic turntables and Radio Shack mixer. In college Mike Delick made the move to radio starting the first Hip-Hop show on WRIU "Strictly Business" with longtime friend DJ Finesse. In 2004 Mike Delick started a weekly Residency at The Providence Black Repertory where he was encouraged by the Artistic Director Donald King to explore all genres of music in his DJ set. Afrobeat, Latin, Hip Hop, Deep House, Cape Verdean, Soul, R&B and Jazz could all be heard on Saturday night at the Black Rep. In 2005 DJ Mike Delick & DJ BlackDove start a weekly party at The Providence Black Repertory called "AfroSonic." Deep Rooted Afro Soul is the sound that you heard coming through the windows of The Black Rep. In 2006 The AfroSonic Collective was created with DJ's Nick de Paris, Dubl'n, Q, BlackDove and Mike Delick. A monthly party called "AfroSonic JUMP" would follow. National DJ's would be invited to play along side the Collective and AfroSonic drummers. 2011 to the present DJ Mike Delick along with DJ's Dublin, Yummy and percussionist Cesar de la Salsa host a monthly party every 3rd Saturday of the month at Salon called "Soul Teknology." A Soulful dance movement has been going strong for two years and doesn't seem to be letting up. Mike Delick along with BlackDove host a weekly party at Fete on Friday night called "GoldMine" where they explore all genres of music. From time to time you can check out Mike Delick spinning at Dusk, Fete, The Parlour and Local 121.
